Sangita Sampradaya Pradarsini (Web Edition in English)

The "magnum opus", Sangita Sampradaya Pradarshini of Subbarama Dikshitar celebrated 100 years of its publication in 2004. To
commemorate the event, we attempted to generate an English Version of this great work.  We have carefully tried to incorporate all the Gamaka symbols and Svara notations as given in the original Edition. We have also tried to follow the in the original edition without any alterations. We have completed typesetting Melams 1 to 24 inclusive, and are now releasing this Beta Version. We have provided two versions of the PDF file, one of which has clickable (bookmark) features. These PDF files were generated byLaTeX, and pdfLaTeX programs with hyperref, and other user-defined style files. We have also given here a small portion of the Vaggeyakara Caritamu. A large part of this section is still in progress with Melas upto 21 (except Bhairavi) proofread.

Technical and scholarly inputs at various stages of this project were generously provided by

• Dr. N.Ramanathan, Professor and Head (Retd.), Department of Indian Music, University of Madras, Chennai, and
• Dr. R.S.Jayalakshmi, Lecturer (Retd.), Department of Indian Music, University of Madras, Chennai

Some footnotes, clearly marked by the symbol “ED:” that appear in this work, are results of their concrete suggestions. They were more than willing to help us clarify many technical questions we had on several aspects. We record our sincere and heartfelt thanks to them both for their continued support and constant encouragement.

We would appreciate receiving your valuable comments, and suggestions for improvement. Please bring to our attention any typos or other errors that might have crept in during our typesetting process. We would also like to thank all those who have helped us until now with their suggestions and enthusiasm

Since a work of this magnitude requires lots of tireless typing, and proof-reading with sharp eyes, we also request any volunteers
who can help us in typing/proof-reading the material, to get in touch with any one of us by email. We are also looking for volunteers who can read and translate from Telugu.
