God calls us to holiness and
the pursuit of righteousness once we have accepted Christ as
our Savior. Students at Mt. Olive are challenged with the question
"How's your P.R.?" with a likening to what corporations
and celebrities value in Public Relations. Our P.R., however,
stands for Pursuit of Righteousness following a scriptural mandate
from 2 Timothy 2:22: "Flee the evil desires of youth and
pursue righteousness ..." Much like corporations and celebrities
need good Public Relations to ensure their message is heard by
the masses and their image and mission are upheld, as Christians
we know that to truly fulfill the Great Commission in our schools
and communities we need good P.R. too - great examples of the
Pursuit of Righteousness.
Students at Mt. Olive are challenged
and encouraged to grow in their knowledge of God's Word in order
to better discern His perfect will for their lives - and to cast
off the temptations of this world to become real followers and
worshipers of their Maker (Phillipians 1:9-11; Romans 12:1-2).
Along the way we have fun, participate
in outreach to our community through service projects, go through
training in how to present our testimony and the gospel in relevant
ways to friends, and begin to experience and recognize the steps
God has us taking on the individual path we're on for Him. There's
a place of service, growth and ministry for any and every student
that joins the MOB (our acronym for Mt. Olive Baptist)! |
