Minding the Store

The gift shop at the Maxey House is sponsored by the Friends of the Maxey House. It is located in the Book House, which was formerly Senator Maxey's law office. The items for sale range from 25 cents and up. There are many Victorian-era related type items and quite a few toys of the type that may have been popular during the time the Maxey family occupied the home. Many books of the nature and historical categories are offered. There are numerous cookbooks, toy items for children, cards, games, kitchen linens, pens, notecards, and miscellaneous items. Also offered is a coloring book which includes all the historical attractions in Paris and was developed by the Friends of the Maxey House. Local artist and Friends of the Maxey House Board member, Albert Nichol, did all of the drawings. Included somewhere in each picture is a replica of the red cowboy hat which sits atop the Eiffel Tower next to the Love Civic Center.
