This MOD is intended for play against the AI of the GAIPS 66 co-op MOD. It is a heavily modified version of my previous BZ2 mod, BattleStrat. UC is based on the Universal Century Gundam universe, most specifically UC0083, an anime space opera. It was originally designed for LAN play, so only about 7 hours of work have gone into it. But in the end, I had so much fun in UC that I thought I may as well release it to the public for any other Gundam fans out there. The player's main role is to pilot the elite "Mobile Suit" (in this case, tanks).. the RX-78 Gundam! Use your superior vehicle and combat skill to defeat scores of enemy forces, while leading your strike teams to their targets. Only strike vehicles can damage structures, so make sure they survive!

To install, simply unzip the files into your BZ2 root directory. If you wish to uninstall UC, simply remove the universal.pak file from your BZ2 directory to somewhere else. Or edit your bzone.cfg and remove the line regarding universal.pak.

If you're a Gundam fan without Battlezone 2, try finding the game! It's probably about $5 now, and recieved B+ reviews when it released. The graphics are still top-notch, even by today's standards. BZ2 is a mix of vehicle combat FPS and Starcraft top-down real time strategy.

Only the Federation side of the UC world has been represented through the ISDF forces. I might make the Scions the Zions later on. So when setting up your G66 game, you *MUST* play ISDF vs ISDF.

12.13.02 - - - - UNIVERSAL CENTURY RELEASED!!!!! (again!)

Yesterday's version had a unit naming problem that obscured the prices in the build menus. This change was a last minute update, and so it wasn't tested. Sorry!
This problem has been fixed, so get the new release and you should be fine.

Vehicles:

No new models or graphics for anything. So nothing looks like a Mobile Suit. But it sorta plays like a Gundam game should. :)

NOTE: Don't modify your vehicles, the price goes to 99. All gameplay was meant for the standard vehicles.

Scout - RGM-79 GM
Mass production standard Mobile Suit for the Federation forces. Cheap!
2 x machine gun
1 x beam saber

Missile Tank - RGC-83 GM Cannon II
Mid-Range Support Mass-Production Mobile Suit. For strike purposes, the vehicle also has a slight ability to defend itself against MS attack. More armor than a GM.
2 x rocket launchers

Mortar Bike - RGM-79P Powered GM
Enhanced GM, strike vehicles with very limited defense capabilities. Attack structures with this, then get it out of there! The mortar represents a bazooka.

Saber Tank - RX-78GP01 Gundam
The main star of the show and game! The Gundam Unit 01 is well armored, well armed, fast, and agile. It's Beam Rifle allows you to dispose of GMs quickly and easily. However, a Gundam belongs in the hands of a human player, as an AI Gundam will likely be easily overpowered by a group of GMs. Just like in the show, only the best pilots should drive the Gundam. When facing enemy Gundams, pretend they're Zion Gelgoogs (the more numerous enemy equivalent of Gundams in the shows).

Walker - RX-78GP03 Dendrobium Mobile Armor
Thrown in for the simple fact that Walkers are cool, the Dendrobium is a big expensive killing machine.

Features:

- Gundam-like weaponry such as the Beam Rifle and Beam Saber. The Beam Rifle's sound effect from Gundam is present. In Gundam, elite Mobile Suits are given Beam Rifles which shoot high-damage laser beams. They shoot slower than the typical machine gun weaponry of standard Mobile Suits, but are much more powerful. The Beam Rifle in the UC mod is very fun to use, I think, as you are limited as to how often you can shoot the gun.. so duels with enemies are much more tense and exciting. Just a few hits from the Rifle and you'll be destroyed.

- The Beam Saber is a hand combat weapon, like a lightsaber from Star Wars. Graphically, UC's beam saber is nothing like the weapon in the show, but if you use it at 10m from the enemy, the enemy will instantly explode.

- Only strike vehicles can damage structures. One of the most frustrating things I found about BattleStrat was that offenses were extremely difficult to repel with only vehicles. This was very problematic in that the entire mod was designed with vehicle combat in mind, and tried to deemphasize static defenses such as Gun Towers and turrets. The AI also had poor aim, so a group of tanks attacking a building would likely kill the building before an equal group of defending tanks could destroy the attackers. So, in UC you *must* use the strike vehicles Mortar Bike (Powered GM) and Missile Tank (GM Cannon) to destroy non-combat enemy structures. The GM and Gundam (Scout/Saber) have no strike ability, but are purely for anti-Mobile Suit operations.

- Built-in G66 files. These will let you fight G66 vehicles that have been modified to fit in with the UC features.

Changes from BattleStrat:

- The Missile Scout ODF replaced with Scout's ODF. This was done because the G66 enemy AI never creates Scouts (GMs) to attack you, but it does make some missile scouts. G66's creator, Natty, may create a UC-specific version of G66 later. The player can still build Missile Scouts though.

- Removal of Tech Center, Training, and GPS. Sat Comm's features given GPS's features, so just hop in and you'll see everything.

- Misc. removal of things and vehicles. What you see is what you get! Just play and have fun!
