Instructions On How To Make
Big Red

Big Red is a very simple launcher to make. Below are the needed materials to build this launcher. Make sure all parts are pressure rated and Sch 40. If you have any questions feel free to contact me on my contact info page.

Materials:
4' of 2" Sch 40 PVC (air chamber)
5' of 1.5" Sch 40 PVC (barrel)
6" of 1" Sch 40 PVC
2 male 1" threaded adapters
1 street elbow 2" Sch 40
1 90 degree elbow 2" Sch 40
1 reducing bushing 2" to 1.5"
2 reducing bushings 1.5" to 1"
Brass ball valve 1"
1 coupler 1.5" Sch 40
2" Sch 40 end cap
1/8" Schrader valve
1/4" NPT 0-160 pressure gauge
PVC primer and cement
Teflon tape
Pipe taps 1/4" NPT and 1/8" NPT

1. Make sure the end of the barrel and air chamber are smoothed off.
2. Take end cap and drill a 5/16" (read the side of the pipe tap to make sure this is the right size.) hole for the schrader valve. Once this is done, use the 1/8" tap to thread the hole. Wrap teflon tape around the Schrader valve and thread it into the end cap. Use an adjustable wrench for proper tightness.
3. Prime and glue the 90 degree elbow and street elbow togehter like in the picture above. Hold tight for 20 seconds to allow glue to set.
4. Prime and glue the air chamber and the end of the street elbow. Hold tight for 20 seconds to allow glue to set.
5. Prime and glue the end cap to seal off the air chamber. Hold tight for 20 seconds to make sure the end cap doesn't push up.
6. Take your 1" pvc and cut it in half. You will now have 2 pieces that are each 3" long.
7. Take one of the pieces and prime one half of it and prime the inside of the 1.5" to 1" reducing bushing, the 1" side. Once that is done, apply the PVC primer to both pieces that have been primed. Push the 1" piece into the reducer and give it a few taps with a rubber mallet. Hold down for 20 seconds for proper seal.
8. Take one of the male threaded adapters and prime the inside of it as well as the other end of the 1" PVC you just put in the reducer. Now apply the cement to both primed areas and push the two together. Tap with a rubber mallet to ensure the fittings are all the way to the bottem. Hold for 20 seconds to allow proper settling.
9. Apply primer to the end of the reducer and the inside of the 2" to 1.5", the 1.5" side. Once this is done, apply the cement to both primed sides and push the two pieces togheter. Hold tight for 20 seconds to allow fittings to settle.
10. Apply primer inside of the other end of the 90 degree elbow and the end of the 2" to 1.5" reducer. Apply the cement to both primed areas and push the two fittings together. Hold for 20 seconds for proper settling.
11. Prime the inside of the last male threaded adapter and one half of the remaining 1" PVC. Apply the cement to both primed sides and push the 1" PVC into the male threaded adapter. Tap the 1" PVC into the adapter with a rubber mallet to make sure the pieces are all the way to the bottem.
12. Now apply primer to the other half of the 1" PVC and the inside of the last reducer 1.5" to 1" (the 1" side). Apply cement to both primed areas and push the two pieces together. Tap with a rubber mallet to make sure the pieces are all set. Hold tightly for 20 seconds to allow for proper set.
13. Apply primer to the end of the reducer and one half of the 1.5" coupler. Apply cement to both primed sides and push the two fittings togheter. Hold tight for 20 seconds to allow pieces to properly set.
14. Apply primer to the other half of the coupler and one end of the barrel. Once this is done, apply the cement to both primed parts and push the two together. Hold for 20 seconds to allow for pieces to properly set.
15. Set all parts aside and allow for glue to dry and set overnight.
16. If you want, you can add the 0-160 pressure gauge. It's best to for saftey. Drill a 7/16" hole (read the side of the pipe tap to make sure the size is correct) and use a 1/4" pipe tap to thread the hole. Wrap teflon tape around the thread and screw it into the hole. Use an adjustable wrench for proper tightness.
17. Wrap teflon tape around the about 6 or 7 times around the two male threads and screw in the brass ball valve and the barrel.
18. Be safe and happy shooting. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me on my contact page.
