I am now the proud owner of a condo in Chicago. Okay maybe I should restate that - I have a contract for a place in Chicago. I don't close until the 9th of March. So back to the place...
It is a three bedroom, two bath condo in the Uptown area. For those of you are unfamiliar with Chicago see the map on the right. Uptown is the neighborhood just north of Lakeview (where I currently live). For some perspective, Wrigley Field is in Lakeview but the new place (in Uptown) is only a little over a mile from Wrigley. So while moving about 3 miles away it is still pretty much the same area of town. I moved north to take advantage of the better values in real estate. You can get a lot more place in Uptown for the same prices as smaller places in Lakeview.
The condo has everything that I was looking for. It is on the first floor and it was a full gut-rehab so everything is brand new. It has beautiful hardwood floors, a great kitchen, and an in-unit washer and dryer. There is a deck out back (plenty of space - and actually bigger than the floor plan says) and I have an assigned parking space right behind the building.
I am super excited and can't wait to take ownership on March 9th.
