My Home

The St Louis Edition

I spent Friday (April 1 ... no fools) in St Louis looking for a place to live. I concentrated my search in the "Central West End" which I had heard positive things about. I visited about 10 buildings and probably saw 25 or 30 apartments.

By the end of the day the choice was clear. I wanted to live in the Towne House Apartments right across the street from The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis (Catholic). Incidentally, the Basilica has the largest mosaic art collection in the world.

The Towne House Apartments

The Cathedral Basilica

I will have a large one bedroom (1000 square feet) and it is located in the penthouse(!) ... I'm not just using the word "penthouse" to make the top floor sound special... the elevator in the building does list the top floor as the penthouse not floor 23. So I feel justified in using the term :-) My apartment looks out directly over the Basilica. The area labeled "den" in the diagram below is really more of a dining area but it could work either way. The building is really nice and well maintained. It will be a great place to live.

Below is a satellite image for the area. You can see the top of the cathedral directly across the street from my building.
