Hayle Girl is Cornwall Sports Personality of the Year
Laser Sailor, 19 year old Rosie Chapman from Hayle has been voted the winner of the Cornwall Sports Personality of the year award by listeners of Radio Cornwall.

Rosie who is a member of the Mount's Bay sailing club, won gold at the International Sailing Federation Regatta in Canada, beating all the male sailors.

She has now qualified for next year's World ISAF Games in Cassis, Portugal. Rosie's goal is now to make it into the British team for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Recently, however, Rosie has suffered more than he fair share of bad luck and injuries, after overcoming a knee injury and illness she has also suffered from torn abdominal muscles and had to undergo surgery which meant that she was not able to be present for the awards ceremony.
