The St John's Ambulance provision which has provided many years of sterling service for Hayle is set to be lost because of apathy and a lack volunteers coming forward. For many years a small team of dedicated  St John's ambulance volunteers in Hayle have provided ambulance and medical cover for a wide range of community events.

The threat to Hayle St Johns is down to the lack of new people coming forward to replace the retiring long-serving stalwarts.

Not only is the loss of St Johns to Hayle sad in its own right, but the knock on effect on community events could be significant. Many public events cannot proceeded without medical contingency medical and first aid cover which St John's provided. Organisers will be forced to go cap in hand, of hand in wallet, to beg or buy in services from surrounding towns.
