Planning Matters |

A range of planning matters seem to have passed under the noses of councillors recently. Firstly there is the matter of the Guinness Trust who, as reported in an earlier article are seeking to renew their claim on the land next to Penpol school and are seeking to build more social hosing there despite their plans being thrown out on their ear last time. Meanwhile we hear that ING (praise be their name) are seeing to have closed door meetings (press and public excluded) with council officials to discuss their plans for Hayle Harbour, so much for promises of public consultation and involvement at every stage then. We are also hearing as yet unconfirmed reports that the planning application to build three story high blocks of flats on the Hawkins site by Copperhouse pool have been withdrawn. So it looks that despite protestations by the Chair of Planning at Penwith that the recent referendum was a waste of time, public pressure may have prevailed. Back at the recreation ground there is not much sign of any work starting to the new skate park despite being told the funding is all in place and its due to open in 2006. Apparently however Hayle Town Council have decided not to oppose the siting of a new 45ft high 02 mobile phone mast opposite Copper Terrace. That's something you won't find publicised on their new web site! |
