Hawkins Referendum Date Set

Following the recent meeting at Passmore Edwards Institute a referendum has now been called and will take place on Thursday 13th October.

Under the rules of the poll voting will take place between 4:00 and 9:00pm only. There is no provision for postal or proxy votes. Voters must attend a poling station listed opposite and no polling cards will be issued.

The question which will be put to the people of Hayle is: 'Should Hawkins Motors site on Hayle Terrace be brought into public ownership for use as an amenity area for perpetuity?'

If you care and/or feel strongly about the issue then please make every effort to vote and try and bring your friends, neighbours and family along to vote as well.

Volunteers are also required for poling and counting agents.

Polling agents simply sit in the poling station to oversee 'fair play' at the poling station between 4:00 and 9:00pm (you don't have to do the whole lot!, any time you can spare will be appreciated)

Counting agents are also required to oversee the actual counting of the votes which will take place in Phillack church hall from 9:00pm after the close of poll.

If you would be willing to do either of the above please contact Harry Blakeley on (01736) 753086
