Oliver Resigns Penwith Seat

Hayle Eye has learned that Councillor Shirley Oliver who has been convalescing following a stroke earlier this year has decided to throw in the towel at Penwith.

Mrs Oliver, who won the Hayle South seat with 736 votes in June 2004 is believed to have cited her continuing ill health as the reason for her departure. Mrs Oliver is continuing in her role as County Councillor for Hayle Gwinear/Gwithian.

A By-Election for the vacant Hayle South seat is expected to be announced shortly.
