A three year old girl who died on
Hayle beach this week has been named as Abbie Livingstone-Nurse. Abbie
and her family from Worthing in West Sussex were on holiday with their
mother and her partner, staying at Beachside Holiday Park in Hayle.
Abbie died when the walls of a 1.5m deep hole she and her brother Joe had been digging on the beach, collapsed in on top of them and the two children were smothered by almost two tonnes of sand. Lifeguards managed to quickly free her older brother Joe, but despite their frantic efforts and that of holiday makers it wasn't until firefighters arrived on the scene more than half an hour later that Abbie was able to be freed. She was rushed by helicopter to Treliske Hospital in Truro attended by paramedics but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. |
