At the meeting convened to elect their new mayor, long serving
councillor Terry Lello proved to be the only nominee for the
post of Mayor. She was elected by seven votes to five at the
meeting held at Passmore Edwards Institute last Thursday.
Paul
Birch was also selected by the council to serve as Deputy Mayor.
Mrs Lello said she was disappointed not
to receive the unanimous support of her fellow councillors while
acknowledging that it was a democratic process. Mrs Lello will
officially take up her new role and succeed Marjorie Roberts,
the present incumbent in 19th May at the annual
meeting of Hayle Town Council when the 'Mayor Making' ceremony
will take place.

married to local boat-builder and fellow councillor Robb Lello and is
also a Penwith District and Cornwall County Councillor. |
