Planning Logic, Hayle Style

The Downes, Foundry Hill, Hayle. Permission to use the old convent, a detached building set in its own landscaped gardens as a venue for civil marriages up to three times a week. It is understood that the owner had an existing agreement to limit traffic using the access road which passes by St Julia's hospice and that was to be adhered to. Permission refused on the grounds of incompatible use and unneighbourly development.

17 Penpol Terrace, Hayle. Permission to convert a shop into a restaurant with apartments above and to demolish an existing workshop at the rear in order to build a multi-story block for use as 10 apartments. The site is in a terraced street with limited access to the rear and the narrow lane and low bridge make it inaccessible for fire appliances. The site is within the Hayle Conservation Area and is also within the footprint of the area that will form part of the proposed 'World Heritage Site' bid. The site is owned by a councillor. Permission granted.
