No Fire Station for Hayle
Despite promises to the contrary Hayle Eye can reveal that Hayle is not going to get a Fire Station after all. With a resident population of 8,000 which doubles during holiday periods Hayle is one of the largest towns in the county but does not have its own fire cover.

 

If a fire were to break out it would be just about possible in good conditions and with a clear road for an appliance to make it from Camborne  within the statutory target time, such a rapid response, however, would be impossible if conditions were less than ideal.

Incredibly, Hayle Councillors have however agreed to shelve the proposed fire station on cost grounds but have suggested that subsidised smoke detectors may be provided instead - gee thanks.
