Chinnaswami Dikshithar

Chinnaswami Dikshitar is the second of the three sons of Ramaswami
Dikshitar.His early life was spent in the company
of his father and his eldest brother at Tiruvarur and Manali.
His eyesight was affected for sometime and his father sang a long ragamalika
on Lord Venkateshwara at Tirupati praying for its restoration.
Chinnaswami is said to have been proficient both in vocal music and
in performing on the vina.
Subbarama Dikshitar records an incident of a cobra coming and swaying
with its uplifted hood when he did an excellent rendering of the raga
nagavarali in a gathering in Tiruvarur.

Compositions:

There are two kritis of Chinnaswami Dikshitar ,
Ganalola  karunalavala in todi, Narayanananda in kalyani.
Chinnaswami was with Muthuswami Dikshitar during his sojourn in Tanjavur.
He is said to have composed the third swara passage to the pada varna of
Ramaswami Dikshitar.He left for Madurai along with his younger brother Baluswami.
He died at the Madurai in his forty-fifth year.
