Notes:
In this song the first line in the charanam refers to the udu dasha system.According to this system each planet presides over the constellation for a particular period of time,Surya - 6 years, cahndra 10 years,brhaspati 1,budha 17, kuja 7 , shani 19 and shukra 20 years.This is generally subdivided into smaller periods called bhuktis.

* Hora -  The division of a house into 2 each measures 15o ie 1/2 of 30 degrees
* Drekkana - division of  each house into 3 ie. 10 degrees ie 1/3 of 30 degrees
These two are determined from Mesha(aries) or the vernal equinox.
*Navamsha is 1/9th of 30 degrees ie 3 degrees 20 mins.
*Kendra is the cardinal position.
* trimshAmsha is 1/30 of 30 ie a degree
* shashtyAmsha is 1/60 of 30 degrees = 1/2 degree
AirAvatAmsha , pArijAtAmsha and gopurAmsha refer to particular combinations of the vargas of the planets.For instance mantreshwara the astrological treatise says, Whether a planet is in friendly house, its own house or exaltation , a combination of 2 vargas is called parijAtAmsha, 4 is gopurAmsha and 6 is airAvatAmsha
