WAR: Cousins: The Mark of Zorro By: Cousin Tok Date/time: Wednesday, November 10, late evening Before the DP attack against CERK that comes in "These are not the DP you want to see" One of the Cousinly Kitties was missing. Zorro, an orange tabby boy, was nowhere to be found. Tok was pretty sure he was still in the building somewhere, but that boy had a knack for getting into trouble. She'd spent the last hour looking behind, under, or on top of everything imaginable, but no Zorro. Finally, Tok decided to stop by CERK's main security console, on the off chance she'd spot something on one of the monitors. Both to her relief and her dismay, she spotted a loose panel on the console, and the tip of an orange and white tail disappearing inside. "ZORRO!!" Tok shrieked, making an ill-advised grab for the tail. Zorro yowled in fear and managed to wedge himself just out of Tok's reach. "I'm sorry, Zorro. Mama didn't mean to scare you." Tok's voice had climbed an octave. "Come on, sweetie, come on out of there." Instead of emerging, Zorro began to cry piteously. "Holy crap!" Tok thought -- he must be stuck. "Okay, baby boy. Try to stay calm. Mama will get you out." As soon as she figures out how to do it without slicing off fingers, getting electrocuted, or shredded by a frightened cat, that was. Tok scanned the top of the console, spotted the master switch, and flicked it to "off". The console fell quiet (well, except for the crying cat), and Tok managed to remove the panel that Zorro was trapped behind. Before he could run off, Tok scooped Zorro up in her arms. "It's okay, sweetheart, you're safe now." Zorro wasn't really hurt, but he turned those oh-so-large-and-adorable eyes (just like Puss-in-Boots in "Shrek 2") toward Tok's face and meowed softly. "Let's get you upstairs and find you a nice can of tuna," Tok murmured. "How's that sound, Zorro?" It sounded fabulous to Zorro, so he started purring as Tok carried him gently from the room. Behind them, the main security console stood silent and dark, with the panel cover on the floor.
