An Original Finish For A Macic Act

Buy, or borrow an old fashioned lady's bonnet. Have it on your table. Have pockets made on the inside of your coat so they will hold and SHOW a few plates, spoons, forks and anything you wish to use in this finish. You may make the production as explained below by your sleight-of-hand or have the articles PLANTED on the persons whom you intend working on in the audience. Get three or four fellows who belong to the club where you are entertaining, and explain that you are going to do so and so, etc., and they'll gladly tuck a plate or some forks or spoons in their pockets, so that all will be in readiness when you do the bit.

The idea of the whole thing is that you are singing or talking a song while doing magic, and when you read further you will see the possibilities as I have picked a song that will send you over with a bang at the finish.

Say, "Ladies and gentlemen, I will close my entertainment in an original and novel manner. I don't mean I will pass among you with cream puffs or chocolate eclaires. The treat I am about to bestow on you is of a vocal nature. In other words I am about to sing. (Give cue to piano player.)

(As you start to sing or talk the song, - I talk, walk slowly down in the audience and approach the first fellow with the planted stuff. We're singing now. The song is SO IS YOUR OLD LADY. Published by Jack Mills, 46th St., N. Y. C., where you can get an orchestration or piano copy.)

I really should go
But I want to show (Start walking down.)
Some of your members up tonite
Don't take alarm
I mean no harm
It'll come out all right (You are down to the first man, reach down and take from him a plate.)
Pardon, I hate to grieve you,
Look, he stole a plate
Well I'll be a little son-of-a-gun (Get plate from next man.)
If here isn't the mate.

Chorus
They've gotta come out
They shouldn't be there (Take out forks.)
They taken them from
I don't know where (Soup plate.)
But they go back where they came from
Here's a fellow who's gotta be watched
He's trying to hide a bottle of Scotch (Take out bottle o'whiskey.)
But it ISN'T going back where it came from
He took some spoons so when he got home he could eat (Take out spoons.)
And this chap didn't get enough so he took some baloney meat (Sausages.)
You've taken some things, you really should NOT
You think you're getting away with a terrible lot (While you sing these last two lines, hurry back to stage, turn your coat back and show plates, spoons, forks, etc. and walk off singing): BUT SO IS YOUR OLD LADY.

Before you start, put the hat on of course. This will go BIG at a show AFTER a banquet or before one either. Everything works out simultaneously with the words of the song. I use it every night. It's a Howl. Try it and then see. Tell piano player to play slowly follow you time and your moves with the song.
