The Multiplying Billiard Balls
I have an ordinary little red billiard ball. It's solid. I tap it here to show it is solid. (Tap head.) I mean the ball, not the head. It's a peculiar thing now. You hit a fellow on the head with this and it always raises a bump. That's not the idea though. You take the ball in your hand like this. (Now make your various passes with the one ball.)
(Have two balls and the shell in your left side coat pocket.) -- After you've made the passes with one ball.) - Now I'm going to squeeze apparently, right through my pocket. (Show ball, take it in the right hand, evidently, but palm in the left.) Put hand with ball in right away. (In left pocket.) You know it's wonderful what a little squeezing will do.
(Take ball with shell out of left pocket - go through routine now.) That's one ball, and if you reach in the air, one and one make two. I'll take one of these and push through the pocket in the same manner. You have to have lots of push to do this trick, but no PULL. (For magical audience only.) And here's the ball with my eighteen hundred dollar check for this evening's performance. One and one is two but three. (Produce third one in right hand.) is a crowd. Makes me think where I got my watch. Three balls. Now the last ball I'll squeeze through in the same manner through the pocket. Watch it close. You may never see me again. One, two, three, here's the baby, crying for it's papa. His papa is over in the pool room getting shot so I'll keep him. And here's the fourth one. (Produce fourth ball at right finger-tips.)
That's all I have room for. Now we'll make'em go. (Palm the one ball in the left hand.) And one is gone. The next one I'll make travel through the air at the rate of seven hundred and fifty two miles per hour. (Toss in air apparently, but simply draw one ball in shell, and produce the one in left hand from the knee.) Now I'll show you how to put one through the flesh. (Go through the method of through the knee.) This is an KNEESY trick. (Now put one ball with the shell in the pocket deliberately and take the last ball and say.) I'll show you how easy It is to put it through the pocket. (Start to rub against coat.) But still, I did it that way before. I'll pass it through my head. (Palm ball in left hand and slap head with right and allow the ball to drop from left hand into palm. - which closes the trick with a laugh, and that's THAT.)
(Bow.)
