Ted
Johnston... ...has a PhD in English (rhetoric and composition with a linguistic emphasis) from Arizona State University (1990). He has taught English composition and literature courses at El Paso Community College for more than 25 years. He has also taught ESAL (English Speaking and Listening) to native Spanish speakers.. Recently he has held a summer position at Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, where he conducted classes for English teachers on how to teach English more effectively. He speaks fluent Spanish and has traveled extensively in Mexico and Spain. In his spare time he writes poetry in both English and Spanish. | |||||||
Joe
Old... ...has a MS in Journalism from the University of Illinois (Urbana) and a MA in History from Southern Illinois University (Carbondale). He worked as a reporter at City News Bureau of Chicago and as city editor at the El Paso Herald-Post before coming to El Paso Community College in 1990. He teaches English, journalism, and history and is faculty adviser to the EPCC student newspaper, El Conquistador. He has traveled extensively in Mexico and speaks Spanish. He has taught online courses and in 2003 received the "Excellence in Distance Education Award" from the Instructional Technology Council (an affiliated council of the American Association of Community Colleges). | |||||||
