Receiver Rules in Scramble Situation

Jerry Campbell's Football Board

When your QB's protections breaks down and he gets in a scramble situation what do you have your receivers do with their routs to facilitate the completion of a pass. I've heard a few different things....
1. have your receivers come back to the QB
2. have your receivers get deeper

These are very contradictory- though they both have their philosophies..... can anyone offer suggestions and why they do what they do?

Thanks

1. If you are already on the sideline, head deep.
2. Flow with the QB. Don't run a million miles an hour unless you need to catch up.
3. Head to sideline mostly flat, angle back to QB slightly.

We work on this at least once every week, and it is a great drill for them to work on in the summer.
