Angle won an Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling in Atlanta in 1996. Not only did Angle secure an Olympic gold medal but became one of only four men to earn amateur wrestling's Grand Slam. The distinction is accomplished by winning the Junior Nationals, the NCAA Championship, the World Championship and the Olympics. For his accomplishments, Angle was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2001.

After debuting in WWE® in 2000, it took him less than one year in World Wrestling Entertainment to win the WWE Championship, an unheard-of accomplishment. Besides being a four-time WWE Champion, Angle has been Intercontinental, European, United States, WWE Tag Team and Hardcore Champion. Last month at WrestleMania® 21, Kurt defeated Shawn Michaels™ in one of the most anticipated matches at WrestleMania.

Outside of the ring, Angle is the co-chairman of SmackdownYour Vote!, a non-partisan partnership that encourages young people to get involved in the political process and vote. He's also volunteered his time on behalf of the "Get Tough on Angina" program, national awareness campaign for chronic angina (a form of heart disease), which affects 6.4 million Americans.
