COMMENTARY:
Men who fail to rule their own household and family, must assume part of the blame for the offenses of their wife and children:
Romans 5:14 tells us Adam was charged with sin because he failed to manage his relationship properly. While Eve sinned first, Adam was held responsible for what happened too.
1 Timothy 2:13 reminds us Adam was created first, and not Eve. (she was created to be a "helpmeet")
1 Timothy 2:14 even if Adam had not eaten of the forbidden fruit himself, he would have still been guilty of an offense. (of not being a watchful and diligent authority figure)
Genesis 3:13 tells us Eve tried to blame Satan. (even though she was not under his authority)
Genesis 3:17 God put the primary blame on Adam, not on Satan or Eve! (although all were guilty of sinning)
While many church and secular people deny the chain-of-command God has set forth in the Bible, He will hold many men accountable for their indifference toward the leadership role they hold in the family and household.
God is SERIOUS about this:
1 Timothy 3:5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
